Tom Wort #21 - Linebacker Oklahoma Sooners

**After earning his degree in December, Tom Wort has decided to forgo his Senior year at Oklahoma and declare for the NFL Draft in April.**

Welcome to this website dedicated to an Oklahoma Sooner all the way from Britain, linebacking sensation Tom Wort. After talking up Football late in life, Tom excelled as a New Braunfels Unicorn before taking his talent on to one of the top College Programs, The Oklahoma Sooners. Cementing his starting spot at MLB, Tom is a walking highlight reel, with an unrivalled passion, emotion and intensity that has gained him fans from all across the World. Tom has all the physical and mental tools to go all the way to the NFL and we shall follow his progress here, breaking down each game he plays in, provide highlights of his tackles and provide game photos and comments where possible (In Stats Section). We have over 50 articles (and counting) on his story from 2007 to present. Tom is extremely proud of where he came from, with a huge desire to inspire kids in the UK to take up and love the sport of Football...This is the #1 source for Tom Wort information.

Tom gets UK Press

After what seems like an eternity, Tom has finally got some coverage from the UK Press. This came from a double page spread in the Guardian and then an online article (with a TomWort.co.uk video) from the Daily Mail. Although you can tell they were written by people not that common with the sport (and given many Americans a good laugh about the wording used - I am available UK Media to proof read) its still a step in the right direction and the first positive signs that the UK media might give Tom the press he needs, although it may be minimal until the NFL. So read what the UK Press are saying in the Articles section, the first of many we shall cover here.

Bob Stoops on Wort - August 6th 2011

"You know Tom Wort is night and day compared to what he was a year ago. You saw him last year as a true freshman because he missed the year before. With his knee injury, he was not able to practice and with a knee injury I don't think you are really able to totally play back the way you did until maybe the second year. It has been exciting being able to watch him. Just today out at stretching I told him that I could tell just from watching tape that he is more comfortable. He's understanding where to be and what to do better. Just his confidence and his knee is better, so Tom has really changed."

Travis Lewis on Wort - August 6th 2011

"Tom Wort has really grown up a lot from spring until now. He is flying around and making a lot of plays. He is just doing a great job. He has really made a lot of improvement and I have the utmost confidence in his play right now. I think it all started with the summer workouts. He showed up from day one and had his best summer since he has been here. I think he is totally healthy, no issues, and he is excited and extremely motivated. I am happy to see that because he is just another guy who is going to make plays on this defense."

Quote - Brent Venables on Tom Wort

"We’ve never had a freshman linebacker play at the level he’s playing at. I think his ceiling is extremely high and he has a chance to be as good or better than anyone we’ve had.”
